Day 2 "Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is?"
Rob wakes up at 5:00 am MDT. I roll over and go back to sleep. Yeah, I will get up when I feel like it. I was able to get my computer on the internet, but he cannot get his on. I know that he is using my computer while I am still in bed so even better excuse for not getting up.
My phone has switched to MDT, but I have not been able to get my fitbit to synch the time. I do not have my phone on the internet and it will only synch on the internet not cell service. I attempt to synch through the fitbit dashboard on my computer. Fitbit wants me to change my password, but I have to know my current password which is saved on my computer. I try to change it, no go. Then I click on "forgot password" and change my password. No, cannot use that password you have already used it. ARG!!!! I keep trying and then it wants a stronger address. F***off is apparanly not strong enough. All this time my fitbit is still on EDT. Fine, I will spend the week subracting 2 hours from the time. I give up and go on to something else and suddenly my fitbit is on the correct time. FM and the "M" stands for magic.
We decide to head off to the grocery store. Rob is a very good navigator, but the streets in Santa Fe do not exactly go straight or continue in any organized fashion. Keep in mind that Santa Fe is the second oldest city in the US and was established in 1607. They were not exactly planning on automobiles back then. We finally get to the grocery store. The majority of people here are still wearing masks so we put on masks. Rob has quite a shopping list, he has already checked their sale ads. We are here for a week and I have to remind him on a few things that we do not need that much. We get to the soda aisle. Look at what I found. Most of you know about my struggle to get Coke Zero when we were on "The Cruise." Last summer Coke Zero was not easy to find and Vanilla Coke Zero was completely gone. I did find four cartons once in August and that was it. Whenever we went to the store I would check to see if they had it. It became kind of my Capt. Ahab thing. Then this morning. There it was.
The problem is that 1 twelve pack was $5.99, but you could get 3 for $13.00. We are here for a week, just how much soda can I drink? Well, we got three 12 packs, I will be the one running around the Plaza in Santa Fe with the caffeine buzz going. For one week we have a full cart of food, water and soda. Oh well, I will stay well hydrated.
For brunch we ate the leftover food from our Mexican plate. We still have not finished off all of the food. I will report that the tostadas would have been much better eaten fresh rather than reheated. We still have not eaten the sopapillas. I took a look at the bag with the sopapillas in it. Um, yeah, that is a lot of grease. That is what makes them taste good.
This afternoon we went to the International Folk Art Museum. Very interesting. The first section was artist response to the pandemic. I saw some beaded face masks. Wow, I could have had a lot of fun with my masks if I had seen this earlier. This was a weaving that they had. All of that is inlay tapestry work woven by Lisa Trujillo. I have heard about her. This was her response to the COVID crises. I included two close ups so that you can see the detail and how it is woven.
They had an exhibit called "From Combat to Carpet" of rugs woven in Afghanastan since the war there started. Several hand knotted rugs with tanks, helicopters, guns and drones. Not quite what I was expecting but an interesting look at their response to the ongoing war.
They had a huge room of different folk art from around the world. This was entirely made of beads:
Most of the work there was minature. The detail was impressive. This is a castle made of hammered tin.
This was another display, I kept finding different details in it:
We decided that we needed an easier day so we went back to take it easy. Rob grilled steaks and we had baked, er, nuked potatoes and a salad. Now Rob is asleep on the couch next to me. The high altitude and yesterday has gotten to both of us.
