Day 3 "Achoo the Yuccas are in Bloom"

Wow, we are really like in vacation mode. We are not trying to cram 18 things into everyday. This morning we just took it easy. We got free wifi and I got my computer right on. Then Rob tried to get his on. I figured that he was doing something wrong. Nope, his computer just does not want to talk to the wifi. I am being nice and letting him use my computer. This means that he gets up early and lets me sleep so that he can stay on my computer. He keeps calling the tech people and they keep promising to solve the problem. He should be on by Friday, we leave Saturday. One fun thing about traveling is watching different local news and ads. This morning the local weather guy was talking about how it was the first full day of summer so we are in shorts weather. I looked up at the TV. The guy had on a suit and tie and instead of pants he had on shorts, but they matched the jacket that he had on. Like is there really a shorts suit? Oh well. The evening news the weather guy was doing it from his backyard, something went wrong with his feed so he said that he would just talk. I do not know what we were supposed to be looking at, but we could see his back and he did something on his computer. They switched back to the anchor desk and she just had a WTF look on her face. Then back to him, but it was still his back. When they went back to the anchor desk they just said something about "well, it is Monday." This afternoon we went to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. It is walking distance from where we are staying. This did involve running across a very busy street. Well, I hustled, I do NOT run. If you see me running you should too because something is probably chasing me. I have always loved her artwork. You could listen at different paintings as you went along. I accidently closed it. Doh! On my way out I scanned the QR code again so that I could watch the videos and listen to the audio on different paintings after we got back. Then I closed all of the open tabs on my phone. Sigh, technology is great in the hands of people who know what they are doing. I went to this museum 17 years ago when we were here and it has really grown since then. I was able to take some photos. If a painting was on loan you were not allowed to photograph it. Enjoy the paintings:
We have noticed that they are very serious here about COVID protocols. When we went to the grocery store Sunday we wore masks because the majority of peoople had on masks. At the Folk Art Museum we were told that if we were fully vaccinated we did not have to wear a mask. We took those off fast. We saw billboards on getting your vaccine in several places along I-25. In the Georgia O'Keefe Museum masks were required. We passed several stores that said that masks must be worn to enter. The COVID rates here are very low. Today the Navajo Nation just lifted their "stay at home" order. I guess that they know what they are doing here. Dinner was going to be tamales from the Posa's Santa Fe Tamale Factory. We had choices to make. We could get red chile with pork or green chili with chicken. Which is hotter, green or red? Most times when we order I do ask which is hotter, red or green, and it is not always the same. I tell them that I am from Wisconsin so please be kind. Usually they laugh. We were ordering online so.... we guessed. Well we chose red chile with pork. I will tell you that if the green was hotter I am glad that we did not get that. We could get them either hot or frozen. We were going to have this for dinner for two nights, and we were picking it up well before dinner time. OK, we can freeze the ones that we do not want tohight and thaw the rest. Yeah, about that. We got a dozen tamales and they were in a bag that you could use to boil them. They were frozen solid. I tried to break it apart. No go. Then I tried to cut the bag so that maybe I could convince them to separate. Great, now all that I have done is made it so that I cannot use this bag to boil them. These are not the sharpest knives. I let them thaw for a while, still will not break apart. I started boiling the water early. 7,200 ft altitude boiling water takes longer. After the water starts to boil I put them into a zip lock bag that I am sure that I have squeezed out all of the air. I put it into the boiling water and that is when I find out how much air is still in that bag. If only I had not cut that damn bag. I cut up lettuce to eat with dinner and wow, that did help with the heat. There were delicious and well worth the drive across town.
The weather today has been beautiful. We hit about 80 degrees and the humidity is much lower than it is in Cincinnati. The heat returns tomorrow, but still low himidity. Next week it is supposed to be a week of 70's. We always know when to plan vacations.
